MFBF Vice President

Ryan MacKay serves as vice president of the 23-person board of directors for the Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF), a non-profit farming advocacy organization representing nearly 6,000 family members across the Commonwealth. In this capacity, he assess the overall direction and strategy of MFBF. 

MacKay is the owner/operator of Lilac Hedge Farm in Rutland, Massachusetts. The operation now includes 200 head of beef, 420 head of swine, 20,000 broilers, 2,500 turkeys, and 2,500 layers, which are all raised on a pasture-based system from birth to processing. Animals are then processed and directly retailed to consumers through home delivery, 15+ farmers markets, a meat CSA, direct delivery, and various wholesale and restaurant accounts. 

MacKay holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business from the University of Massachusetts.
