Proposed SMART regulations will largely prohibit ground-based solar arrays on farms. Many farmers are looking towards solar as a means to increase the viability of their farms. Solar offers a huge advantage in that it is NOT permanent, properly constructed arrays can be easily removed and the land returned to agriculture. Solar can be a good tool in the long-term protection of farmland.
